Dry Dry Splash

Hola!

This week was amazing! So many things have happened!  I have overcome cheese!  I just grit it out and swallow haha Also I have now experienced the full throttle of the Argentina ``Ì don’t care I´ll breast feed wherever I want`` attitude.  Seen some stuff I don’t want to see. haha Also my first dog attack.  We were talking to this guy through his window haha and his dog went for my hand! But I ninja slapped out of there so fast and was just left with dog spit on my hand! haha Also Its been really warm weather for the whole time I’ve been here! It’s been great. Last night we were in a less actives home.  And thunder cracked so stinking loud! And it started pouring out of nowhere!  Hardest rain and loudest thunder I’ve ever been in!! Me and my comp got soaked! haha We went contacting and it was so fun.  Every door I just had the biggest cheesiest grin while rain was drenching us! About the first 4 doors we got rejected quickly! I just laughed and said Alright! haha I knew a miracle was coming.  Tracting in pouring rain. And sure enough our very last 3 contacts of the day we set appointments! Met some really awesome people! Gods Hand is in all things! Also this week I had to drink soda! There goes five years of being pure! haha But I forgot how good Coke is.  I’m going to enjoy it for these next two years as much as I can! I also had to give a talk in church on Sunday! SO AWESOME! The spirit was just so strong and I couldn’t help but smile the whole time! We only have about 30 members who show up to our branch each week! But they all smiled back as I did the best Spanish I could! I talked on 1 Nephi 8 and the tree of life! I have learned so much this week.  I studied the talk The Fourth Missionary. SO POWERFUL.  Christ is the only way, and there is no other way that we can receive happiness.  GIVE YOUR HEART TO CHRIST. And I´ll have no regrets after two years! Love you all so much! I hope you all have a great week! Happy birthday to my little stinkin best buddy LUKE!!! Love you Kid! And happy late Anniversary to my sweet parents who I owe everything too! Love you tons and thanks for everything you have taught me and your great examples!  Everyone have a great 4th of July!! God Bless America!!! Love you all, til next week.

ARGENTINA :) (Happy Father's Day)

Hola,
Happy Father´s day dad! Love you so much and thanks for everything you have taught me!  Sending my love from the promised land!  I am in Esperanza Santa Fe!  So I will be in the Santa Fe Mission!  My companion is Elder Fillerup. He is a stud! He is in his last transfer and it is his first time training! He is also from California! Argentina is amazing:)  There are so many dogs like everyone said so I just laugh haha I'll tell you what I do not know a lick of spanish haha No clue what the people are saying.  So I just smile and wave boys, smile and wave haha  The city is so amazing.  WE have bikes!!! I'm so happy I feel like a little kid while riding around the city:) It is beautiful. There are lots of statues everywhere which is really pretty.  There is a lot of work to be done here and Im so excited! MY companion and I have a blast.  The flight here was so long and brutal but I made it.  I gave a pass along card to the person I sat next too! Caching.  I've eaten alfahores and fracturas and they are absolutely delicious. I want more and more and more.  There are dogs everywhere! I have only been chased on my bike once though! haha and we were in an old investigators house and a cat snuck up in between my legs and licked my hand.  I almost had a disaster in my pants.  Scared to death.  I have also discovered the incredible invention of the Biday. (I dont know how to spell it) but it has forever changed my life.  I ran out of time today so I am sorry. But I absolutely love it here! It's incredible! Miracle of the week: My first morning, snot was just pouring out of my nose and I was having other sick issues.  But when we walked out the door to work,  it all completely went away! GOD IS GOOD.  Haven't been sick since.  I know the church is true and my testimony grows everyday! The mission is incredible! Love you all so much have a great week!

VOY A ARGENTINA

HOLA!!
Last week in the MTC went by quick! On Tuesday we always guess who the general authority speaker will be that night.  I took a wild guess with the General Relief Society President, and yep she showed up.  Can't remember anything she said sadly... Haha but her Husband said we put on huge suit coats when we were set apart, and now we have to fill them!  Excited to do that.  This week the new elders left their doors open... again.  Didn't learn their lesson, so we may or may not have put marshmellows all over their room. haha But then my room was sabotaged.... They put tape in our door so it wouldn't lock, then snuck in and stacked all of our mattresses.  I thought it was pretty funny haha We all agreed no more pranks.  This week I have been in pre-game mode, instead of listening to the Eye of the TIger, I've been listening to spiritual messages.  I'm so pumped up for the field!! We watched a video called Missionary Work and the Atonement. (I think that's the title) It is incredible!  My whole body was on fire.  Complete chills from the spirit.  So excited to have my captain be Jesus Christ in the mission field and to walk shoulder to shoulder with him. PODEROSO.  We had our last class with our teachers this week.  These guys are incredible.  Spiritual giants.  They have made me want to become a better person and have absolutely made me stoked for Argentina. I couldn't thank them enough.  Crazy to think the 6 weeks is coming to an end.  Yesterday we had in field orientation. They gave us a pass along card to hand out at the airport.  And so the missionary work begins. dun dun dun.  Last night was a FIESTA!!! Thanks for the whoopees mom and dad! oh my goodness they are great to the taste and very desirable. WOOO! and Grandma sent another batch of pies!  She is absolutely one of the most amazing women I know.  I enjoy sharing the love of my grandma with other Elders.  The pie was delicious as always!  The MTC has been an incredible experience.  I learned how to study and receive personal revelation.  That's been a great blessing for me.  I have learned how to deal and communicate with others, how to have patience, how to think about others more than myself, and have gained a greater love and appreciation for my amazing family back home.  Thanks MTC, it's been fun.  Well I love you all so much and miss you tons!  Have a great week.  My next email will be from Argentina.  Hoorah.

Elder David Maynard

P.S. Give my stud (in a womanly way) of a sister a huge hug for me.  Never told her I loved her enough growing up.  But Britt, I LOVE YOU.  Take care of the fam for me.  WELCOME HOME. Well done.

23 more to go :)

Hola!
This week was fast, yet again.  On Tuesday night we were able to hear from Elder Christofferson.  Pretty cool, he told us some frequently asked questions Missionaries have in the field and then answered them.  One cool thing is to always keep eye on fruits of labors.  If you don't like your results, you have to change.  Also yesterday we got to watch Elder Perry's funeral.  I like how all the speakers touched on that Elder Perry is already working hard in the next life.  Cool to think about.  This week we also got a new investigator. He is a cool, big guy from Houston.  We read 3 Nephi 11 when Christ comes down to the Nephites.  He thought it was awesome. Really cool spiritual experience.  We also started teaching each other within the district.  So I am and Investigator and it is interesting to think and feel from their standpoint.  We also got to skype a member from Argentina! Really cool! I couldn't stop smiling the whole time I felt like the Biggest goof.  Her name was Estela from Buenos Aires and we shared with her Alma 8: 23-24 I think. Can't exactly remember. But way cool.  This week we also got two new districts for our zone, so our sacrament meetings won't be just us 8 elders haha  But one of the new districts left their door to their residence open all day haha We may have sprinkled some of Grandpa's tootsie rolls all over their beds, we may have hid their pillows, and we may have put a fire extinguisher in the middle of their room.  I can neither confirm nor deny any of those things.  Haha Some of the elders were looking for their pillows in the bathroom haha We just might have only put them under their beds. Pretty funny.  Good lesson for them though. They won't leave their doors open anymore.  We are just trying to help them out for the future.  I started to read Jesus the Christ this week.  That book is powerful.  It's ginormous, hopefully I'll finish it on my mission.  I also got a lot out of Alma 26 this week.  Ammon is a stud.  Got me pumped up for the field.  No greater joy than missionary work! His JOY WAS FULL!  Awesome.  For Elder Luckart's birthday we surprised him with the cake! And there were plates with it, and some frosting got on the side of the whole stack of plates. And Luckart licked it off.  Licked every single plate.  We were like ok, now we dont have plates hahaha.  It worked out fine though.  Thanks for sending that mom!  Thanks for all the letters and packages, LOVE IT.  Can't believe Britt will be home in 11 days or so, CRAZY.  That will be a fun time.  Not sure if I'll get to see her. Get to BA at 9:11 and dad said she gets there at 11:30 or so.  I'm scared to death because both my grandpas are going through the emergency rooms!  Hope you both get better! Also send my love to Aunt Sally! I pray for all of you everyday! and thank you for your prayers. Love you all and miss you so much.  Have a great week!
